Don’t Just Make AI Follow You—and Don’t Just Follow AI

Let people and AI review each other’s framing instead of perfecting the same assumption.

People review AI’s proposal

What assumptions does it depend on? Is the evidence sufficient? What other paths deserve comparison? Assign the responsibility to a person; no new role is required.

AI reviews the human brief

Does the premise hold? Does the direction support the business objective? Is there another explanation worth testing? Allow evidence-based questions, but not unauthorized action.

Route every challenge to the proposal owner and require a response. Force review, not disagreement; after review, the original proposal may still be the right one.

For business leaders

Assign responsibility for reviewing the frame and give AI room to question assumptions. Do not spend both sides’ capabilities on producing ever more polished revisions.

For managers

Bring the key assumptions, alternatives, and judgments tested by people and AI into the meeting alongside the proposal itself.
